This pork rub recipe is perfect with our pulled pork or a beautifully naked rack of pork ribs. No sauce needed.
You’ll see a lot of recipes on other websites that include powdered mustard. We haven’t included it in ours since we slather our pork with yellow mustard prior to applying the rub.

We like to slather our pork with mustard before applying the rub since it helps it stick a little better than water alone would. The mustard is water-based and not oil-based, which will also help the rub dissolve in it.
The sugar in the rub should help you create that beautiful bark that you’re looking for.
Remember that this is a no-salt rub. We leave the salt out so that you can dry brine your pork before you rub it. If you don’t want to dry brine (we highly recommend that you do), but would rather do it all at once, just add two tablespoons of Morton’s Kosher Salt to the recipe.
